Infectious disease prevention and control measures are essential in daily life, such as hand and surface hygiene, but these routines can fail.
Some actions can become unsustainable over time, as in the case of packaging, where hygiene is almost impossible at all times.
To solve this challenge, Anjo developed the NanoBlock line, a bactericidal and antiviral varnish technology intended mainly for flexible packaging.
Everything fits perfectly in your supplier’s printing line, without requiring any changes in the process.
Offering 100% security for you and your business.
Antimicrobial activity and effectiveness test – used to measure the effectiveness of products with antibacterial action. Analyzes the microbial growth inhibition of two of the most common bacteria: Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus
Measurement of antiviral activity on plastics and other non-porous surfaces – specifies the appropriate methods for measuring antiviral activity. Validations of antiviral capacity were performed on viruses of the coronavirus family, being a member of Sars-CoV-2
It preserves its bactericidal and antiviral functionality throughout the durability of the packaging.
*Consult time for your packages
Overprint varnish that can be applied in several flexible packages *, and can be printed in flexography or rotogravure.
*Paper, PE, PP, BOPP, PET, etc.
It does not change the safety specifications for the packaging, transport and handling of products.
It does not require changes in the printing process, being ideal for any product, any sector or surface.
The world needs packaging free of fungi, viruses and bacteria. And your business can get ahead with the protection of NanoBlock technology.
Indicated for the sector of food, hospital supplies, toys, gifts, personal care products or any packaging that may cause cross contamination and that has contact with people.
See below for a list of the main questions about NanoBlock technology.
Within normal handling conditions, we can ensure that the bactericidal and antiviral action of the NanoBlock® line is permanent on the packaging based on the activity tests of the assets, carried out in accordance with JIS Z 2801: 2000 and ISO 21702: 2019:
The NanoBlock® line has antimicrobial action in its broadest sense, since the assets used in the composition have a broad spectrum of activity against bacteria, fungi and viruses.
The care in handling a common printing varnish remains the same for the NanoBlock® line. The assets used in the line do not change the hazard classifications. It is recommended to read the MSDS of the products before handling them.
The NanoBlock® line was initially developed with a focus on OPV – Over Print Varnish applications for external packaging protection. Preferably the varnish line was adopted because the packaging, in the vast majority, is not coated by printing on the entire surface. Another benefit is that the customer will have no difficulties in approving other inks, maintaining the original configuration of products and printing processes. But it can also be worked with the color line.
Yea! The NanoBlock® line is indicated for laminated packaging that uses polyester films (PET), BOPP, PP and PE, as long as it is applied externally.
Yea! The NanoBlock® line is divided into underlines in order to meet the physical-chemical resistance according to the requirements of the product or the environment in which it will be packaged.
The handling precautions and recomendation used for a common printing varnish remain the same for the NanoBlock® line, however, it is essential to follow the handling recommendations in the Technical Bulletin of each product.
The action of the NanoBlock® line may be compromised if it is mixed with other product lines.
There is no limitation as to the formulation of the thinner used in the process, however, it is recommended to validate the formula to be used with the technical area of Anjo.
The NanoBlock® line does not replace the correct hand hygiene, which is essential to reduce / eliminate / prevent contamination by bacteria and viruses. The asset present in the NanoBlock® line will remain, on a stable basis, on the packaging surface. When that surface comes into contact with the contaminated hand, it will act to make the packaging surface clean and free of contaminants.
The NanoBlock® line will act to make the packaging surface clean and free of microorganisms, regardless of the type of application (meat, vegetables or fruits).
The NanoBlock® line acts to protect against microorganisms on the packaging surface, thus preventing the transmission of bacteria and viruses from the packaging to the hands and, consequently, from the hands to the food, avoiding cross contamination.
The antibacterial and virucidal action present in the NanoBlock® line will remain, in a stable way, on the surface of the packaging, in this way, this packaging can be used to package wet or dry food, without losing its action. With regard to temperature, the product is stable and active at low temperatures.
Yes. The NanoBlock® line was developed in OPV (Over Print Varnish). If the product has a total area (total packaging coverage) printed, the NanoBlock® line can also be supplied as inks (White and colors).
The action of antibacterial activity will be expanded and more effective when using the substrate and the coating (paint or varnish) with antibacterial activity, however, the application of the NanoBlock® line on common substrates proved to be effective in the antibacterial and also virucidal action.
There are no restrictions on the use of the NanoBlock® line in packaging intended for the packaging of chocolates, candies, lollipops and similar products that its consumption occurs with direct contact of the packaging with the mouth.
No. The line does not change the properties of the packaging, nor does it change the recycling classifications.
No. Because the assets used in the NanoBlock® line are not migratory, there is no influence of the product on the taste and odor of the food.
Yes. The antiviral activity of the NanoBlock® line has been validated in tests according to the ISO 21702: 2019 standard, which measures the antiviral activity in plastics and other non-porous surfaces of products treated with antivirals with a coronavirus, a member of the Sars- CoV-2.
